The following quote is from the “Marvelous Makeup” chapter of a book called Can You Get Hooked on Lip Balm? (Harlequin Press)  This book talks about makeup from a scientific viewpoint. It is penned by 3 actual scientists who choose to remain anonymous using the names Left Brain, Right Brain, and Sarah Bellum. There is so much misleading, innacurate, and nonsencical information about makeup in print today that I make it a point to seek out everything that is written about makeup by unbiased authors…..that would be anyone who doesn’t profit from the sale of a makeup product or skin treatment.

Scientific Proof That Makeup Really Helps
Many women spend countless hours a year putting on cosmetics and making sure they look just right before going out. Did you ever wonder if it was all worth it? Is the makeup really making you look that much more attractive? According to a team of psychologists in the United Kingdom, it is.

In their study, they found that men are more atracted to women with MORE COLOR on their face. And they suggest that there is a good biological basis for this fact. They theorize that women with higher levels of estrogen naturally have more color than those with lower levels. And a higher level of estrogen is indicative of a more fertile woman. According to evolutionary theory, men should be inclined to find more fertile women more attractive.

I thought this would be a good time to encourage women not to be afraid of color. There is certainly a place for virtually colorless makeup and there are undoubtedly a few men who tell their wives they like them best looking natural……but do you ever wonder if those men may subconciously feel that way because they don’t want their wives to look too attractive to other men?

Color Perfect Tangerine Luxury Lipstick

I’m not suggesting that you should get all painted up like a tart or Lady Gaga, but I am suggesting that Spring and Summer are the perfect time to pump up the color volume in your makeup. I just added two new lipstick colors blush colors to my collection that fit this bill perfectly.  FLIRT is a bright coral lipstick That looks bolder in the tube than it does on the lips thanks to a very subtle shimmer in the formula. Coral is a color that straddles that warm/cool line and can be worn by almost any woman as long as her skin tone can tolerate brightness.

The 2nd new lipcolor is TANGERINE and this one is a show stopper and is best worn only by women with warm coloring and should be avoided by anyone that has been professionally color typed and told they are a soft or muted type. Jennifer Lopex is actually a somewhat muted type and she recently wore this lipcolor on American Idol with a bright white blouse and that’s all you could see on this beautiful woman. The lips and the blouse. Muted (i.e. toasted, soft, earthy) women will be overwhelmed by this color. Otherwise, as long as your coloring is warm, it’s fair game and it just screams summer and mass quantities of estrogen.

Colors this vibrant often look best worn with a very subtle blush or no blush at all. But for those who prefer their color on their cheeks instead of their lips there is HUSH PINK for fairer skinned gals with cool to neutral coloring or CORAL SUN for those who are decidely warm skinned from light to dark.
